History was made on December 1, 2016 in Abuja when the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) formally presented certificate of accreditation (ISO 15189:2012) to three deserving Medical Laboratories namely CLINA LANCET LABORATORY, 445 NAF HOSPITAL LABORATORY AND EL-LAB LABORATORIES.
The Hon. Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole who was represented at the event by the Director of Hospital Services, Federal Ministry of Health Dr. Wapada Balami, while presenting the certificates to the accredited Laboratories urged them to continue to maintain the high standards which had earned them the recognition. He also urged other Medical Laboratories especially those in the northern part of the country to emulate the recipients by raising their services delivery standards. The Minister congratulated the Council on the epoch making achievements and urged it not to rest on its oars as the Medical Laboratory remains pivotal in the health system delivery in the country.
While presenting the facilities to the Minister, the Acting Registrar/CEO, MLSCN, Mr. Tosan Erhabor noted that they had been found worthy in policies, processes and procedures, and assured them of the Council’s readiness to continue to partner with them to ensure that they maintain the high standards for which they received accreditation.
The occasion which was chaired by a former National President of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN), Mr. Manason Rubainu, also had in attendance the following: AMLSN National President, Alh. T. Y. Raheem who was represented by Mr. Godwin Ihimekpen the immediate past National President of AMLSN, Dr. G. C. Okara as well as other dignitaries were also in attendance.
